The Chrysler Pronto Cruizer was a 1999 concept car that Chrysler built and showed at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. Bryan Nesbitt designed it, and its design evolved into the Chrysler PT Cruiser. It debuted as a possible Plymouth, like the 1997 Plymouth Pronto and the 1998 Pronto Spyder, and became a Chrysler because the Plymouth marque was to be discontinued. It carried a 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine with a five-speed manual transmission borrowed from the second-generation Dodge and Plymouth Neon, with a design derived from the Neon, a grille and fenders like the Plymouth Prowler and a roll-back fabric top.
