The first generation was offered by Chevrolet as the Carryall Suburban, a utility vehicle with a station wagon body on the chassis of a small truck, focused on functionality so that the whole family and their gear could be carried. It shared the front sheet metal and frames of the half ton pickup of the same year but had an all metal wagon body, with seating for up to eight and a choice of rear panel doors or a rear tailgate and lift window. Its model years run from 1935 to 1940.
