The Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a performance oriented Super Sport trim applied to Chevrolet's mid-size Chevelle model beginning in 1964, offered with a succession of increasingly powerful V8 engine options through the height of the American muscle car era. It became one of the most recognizable nameplates of that period before the Chevelle line itself was discontinued in 1977, and the SS badge it popularized has been revived on later Chevrolet performance models.
