The BYD Yuan is a subcompact SUV from BYD Auto that sits below the Song in the Dynasty series and is named after the Yuan dynasty. It has been sold under the Yuan name since March 2016 and is now offered only as a battery electric car, though petrol and plug-in hybrid versions were once sold. The petrol car launched in 2015 as the BYD S1 and was renamed Yuan in China, while some other markets kept the S1 name even for the electric version. Related models are the BYD S2, a shorter rebadged electric Yuan from 2019, the Yuan Pro facelift of the 2021 model year with a 50.1 kilowatt-hour Blade battery, and the larger Yuan Plus, sold as the Atto 3 in many markets. A second-generation Yuan Up arrived in March 2024.
