BYD Tang

Automobiles

The BYD Tang is a series of mid-size SUVs made by BYD Auto and named after the Tang dynasty, which the article calls the most prosperous of the great Chinese dynasties. It is the second model of BYD's Dynasty series after the Qin. The first generation was shown at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show as a plug-in hybrid only, built on the BYD S6, and retail deliveries began in China in June 2015; it was the top selling plug-in passenger car in China in 2016 and the world's top selling plug-in hybrid that year. The second generation debuted at Auto China in April 2018 with petrol, plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions, and became BYD's first vehicle exported to Europe, starting with Norway in 2021.
