The BYD Song Plus is a compact SUV that BYD Auto has built since 2020 as part of the Song series of SUVs, which are named after the Song dynasty. It was launched in September 2020 as a larger and more upmarket alternative to the Song Pro, positioned below the Tang. At first it came only with a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine, and in 2021 BYD added the plug-in hybrid Song Plus DM-i and the battery electric Song Plus EV, while the petrol car was phased out in 2022. A June 2023 facelift gave it a restyled front and rear with headlamps similar to the Seal. The electric version is sold in Europe as the BYD Seal U, and the plug-in hybrid is sold in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Thailand as the Sealion 6 DM-i. By July 2024 BYD had produced one million of the new energy versions, and in China the Sealion 06 has become its de facto successor.
