BYD Song L EV

Automobiles

The BYD Song L EV is a battery electric mid-size SUV made by BYD Auto since 2023 and the largest vehicle in the Dynasty Series Song family. It falls in the Chinese B-class, which is the D-segment elsewhere, and is based on the e-Platform 3.0 that it shares with the BYD Seal. It was shown as a prototype at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, the production version appeared at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2023, and pre-sales began in November 2023. BYD claims a drag coefficient as low as 0.255 thanks to a low roofline, electric rear wing and hidden door handles. Single-motor versions make 150 or 230 kilowatts and the dual-motor version 380 kilowatts, using a Blade battery of 71.8 or 87.04 kilowatt-hours, with a top speed limited to 201 kilometres per hour. Despite the name it is largely unrelated to the Song L DM-i hybrid.
