BYD Song

Automobiles

The BYD Song is a series of compact SUVs that BYD Auto has produced since 2015, named after the Song dynasty. The name covers several models: the original Song, later called Song Classic and sold until 2019, the larger Song Pro of 2019, the more upmarket Song Plus of 2020, the electric Song L EV from 2023 and a plug-in hybrid Song L DM-i, while the Song Max is a compact MPV. The first Song appeared at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2015 and went on sale in October 2015 as BYD's first compact crossover. It was planned as the S3 before BYD chose the Song name for every powertrain. In 2022 it ranked first in China's SUV segment with 478,811 sales, and since 2024 the Song Plus is exported as the Seal U and Sealion 6.
