BYD Sealion 7

Automobiles

The BYD Sealion 7, sold in China as the Sealion 07 EV, is a battery electric mid-size SUV that BYD Auto has built since 2024 and the first of the Sealion family of SUVs in the Ocean series. It was first introduced on 17 November 2023 at the Guangzhou Auto Show, launched at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024 and went on sale the following month, with the Tesla Model Y as its main benchmark. It first sold outside mainland China in Hong Kong in September 2024, then in other Asian markets and Europe. The Chinese version uses the e-Platform 3.0 Evo with a 12-in-1 electric drive system and motors that spin to 23,000 rpm, plus BYD's cell-to-body battery technology. The boot holds 520 litres, 1,789 litres with the seats folded, with a 58 litre front trunk. It left BYD's Chinese domestic line-up in 2026.
