BYD Sealion 05 DM-i

The BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid compact SUV made by BYD Auto since 2024. It belongs to the Sealion line of SUVs in the Ocean Series, sold through Ocean Network dealerships in China, and is a sister model of the BYD Song Pro, sharing its price and technical specification. The first generation went on sale in September 2024 together with the updated Song Pro. Its styling borrows heavily from the Destroyer 05 sedan and was originally meant for the cancelled Frigate 05 of 2022. It uses the fifth-generation DM-i 5.0 plug-in hybrid system. A February 2025 update brought a revised front end and an upgraded driver assistance system using 12 cameras, 5 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. A second generation, built on the body of the Sealion 05 EV, was introduced in April 2026 and went on sale on 20 April 2026.
