The BYD Qin is a series of compact and mid-size sedans that BYD Auto has built since 2012, and it was the first model of the company's Dynasty series, named after China's first imperial dynasty. It began as the plug-in hybrid version of the BYD Surui, the second-generation F3, and replaced the F3DM, which launched in China in 2008 and is described as the first mass-produced plug-in hybrid car. A concept was shown at the 2012 Beijing motor show, the car reached the Chinese market in August 2012 and deliveries began in December 2013. Later variants include the Qin Pro of 2018, the Qin Plus of 2021 and the larger Qin L, and the line has been sold as a plug-in hybrid, a battery electric car and, earlier, a petrol car.
