BYD M6

Automobiles

The BYD M6 was a seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle built by the Chinese car maker BYD between 2010 and 2017. Its styling was widely seen as heavily inspired by the Toyota Previa, known in Japan as the Estima. It was officially introduced at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show with a choice of two engines: BYD own 2.0 litre unit from the BYD483 series, rated at 138 horsepower, or a 2.4 litre engine based on a Mitsubishi design, rated at 162 horsepower. In 2013 a minor facelift replaced the smoked headlamps of the early cars with clear ones. The M6 was a family-oriented people carrier from the period when BYD sold mainly petrol cars, well before its move to plug-in hybrids and battery electric models.
