The BYD G5 was a compact sedan built by the Chinese automaker BYD from 2014 to 2017, where it took over from the earlier G3. It debuted at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2014 and went on sale in September 2014 at prices running from about 75,900 to 102,900 yuan. It was built on a stretched version of the platform used by the BYD F3, which put it a little above the F3 and below the mid-size G6 in the company range. A hybrid version using a 1.5 litre turbo engine and an electric motor of about 111 kilowatts was expected to be shown in 2015. The G5 is one of the conventional petrol-era saloons that BYD sold before its present plug-in hybrid and battery electric line-up.
