The BYD G3 is a compact car by BYD, essentially an enlarged version of the compact BYD F3. It was aimed at sales in China's Tier 1 cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, to reach more sophisticated buyers than those who chose the F3, and production ended in 2014. It follows the Chinese habit of offering stretched wheelbase versions of smaller cars: the G3 is about 4.6 metres long, roughly 7 centimetres longer than the F3 sedan, with a wheelbase 1 centimetre longer. Only the G3 offered the larger 1.8 litre inline-four engine, and its engines, beginning with a 1.5 litre four, are all petrol-powered with outputs between 78 and 90 kilowatts. Its equipment is also higher than the F3's, with sat-nav, LED taillights, leather seats and remote central locking. It sold about 12,000 units in the first six months of 2010, less than one tenth of the combined results of the smaller F3 and F3-R.
