The BYD F3 is a compact car that the Chinese maker BYD produced between 2005 and 2021, and it was the first BYD vehicle of the company's own design, with production of the first generation starting in September 2005. Early cars used Mitsubishi 4G-series four-cylinder engines, and from 2011 the Mitsubishi units were replaced by BYD's own engines, such as the 1.5-litre BYD473QE. The first generation was assembled in Russia at the TagAZ factory between 2011 and 2013 and was facelifted in 2014 and 2016, the latter sold abroad as the L3. A second generation called the Surui launched in 2012 and led to the Qin. Derivatives include the F3DM plug-in hybrid, the F3R hatchback, the larger G3 and the L3, and the F3 returned as a Classic trim for the 2020 model year.
