The BYD Dolphin is a battery electric subcompact hatchback built by BYD Auto since 2021. It is the first car of the Ocean series to use the e-Platform 3.0 and the first production model to wear the new BYD logo, and it sits above the Seagull in the Chinese range. BYD showed a prototype called the EA1 Concept at Auto Shanghai in April 2021, presented the production car three months later and began sales in August 2021, using the Marine Aesthetics design language shaped by Wolfgang Egger. A lengthened export version of 4,290 millimetres arrived in 2023 to meet five-star ANCAP crash standards, and the 500,000th Dolphin was built on 22 September 2023. A facelift followed in March 2025 and a plug-in hybrid Dolphin G DM-i was unveiled in Europe in May 2026.
