The 1977 Buick LeSabre and other General Motors B body full sized cars were considerably smaller on the outside and lighter than their predecessors, losing 700 to 800 pounds of weight and 10 to 15 inches of overall length. The full size cars were the beginning of a corporate wide downsizing of vehicles to improve fuel economy after the 1973 and 1974 energy crisis. Its model years run from 1977 to 1985.
