The British Rail Class 805 Evero is a bi-mode multiple unit built by Hitachi Rail for Avanti West Coast on the design of the Hitachi A-train. Thirteen five-car units were built to replace Class 221 trains on services between London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Chester and stations on the North Wales Coast lines, which allowed long-distance diesel working on electrified routes to be eliminated. Static testing began at Newton Aycliffe in June 2022 and main line testing followed in February 2023. Entry into service, first planned for 2023, was put back to the summer of 2024, and the Class 805 entered regular service on 2 June 2024.
