The BR Standard Class 3 2-6-0 was a class of mixed traffic steam locomotive designed by Robert Riddles for British Railways. It was a hybrid design, with a chassis closely based on the LMS Ivatt Class 4 and a boiler derived from the GWR No. 2 boiler, shortened and fitted with a dome. Design and construction took place at the former Great Western Railway Swindon Works, alongside the 2-6-2 tank version, though some details were drawn at Brighton, Derby and Doncaster. Only 20 were built, numbered 77000 to 77019, all at Swindon. They worked mainly in the North Eastern and Scottish Regions, were the last steam class on British Railways to begin withdrawal, and none was preserved.
