The XM is a full size plug in hybrid crossover and the second car developed entirely by BMW M, after the M1 of 1978. It pairs the twin turbo 4.4 liter S68 V8 with an electric motor in the gearbox and a 25.7 kWh battery, was previewed as a concept at Art Basel in Miami in November 2021, and has been built at the Greer plant in South Carolina since December 2022.
