The BMW Isetta is a microcar that BMW produced under license from the Italian company Iso from 1955 to 1962, distinguished by a single front mounted door that opened outward together with the attached steering column to allow entry. Its small size and low running costs made it an important, inexpensive product for BMW during a period of financial difficulty for the company in postwar Germany.
