Bangladesh Railway Class 2500, classified MEH-14, is a class of 18 metre-gauge diesel-electric locomotives that Hitachi of Japan built in 1982 for Bangladesh Railway, numbered 2501 to 2518. They use the Hitachi model designation HFA13A and a Co-Co wheel arrangement, and are fitted with a turbocharged ALCO 251B-6 inline six-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine rated at 1,400 horsepower, mounted on ALCO trimount bogies. In the class code, the H stands for the manufacturer, Hitachi, and the 14 for the power rating. The locomotives work both passenger and freight services across Bangladesh's metre-gauge network, with Kamalapur in Dhaka as the primary depot, and they are maintained at the Central Locomotive Workshop at Parbatipur and the diesel workshop at Pahartali in Chattogram. Their design is broadly similar to that of Bangladesh Railway Classes 2300, 2400 and 2800.
