The Allegro 2 was launched in time for the London Motor Show in October 1975, with the same bodyshells but a new grille, reversing lights on most models and some interior changes to increase rear seat room. In April 1975 a three door estate car version had been added to the range. At the end of 1976 British Leyland confirmed exploratory talks with trades union representatives about the possible transfer of Allegro production from Longbridge to Seneffe in Belgium. Its model years run from 1975 to 1979.
