Armoured Multirole Carrier

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Armoured Multirole Carrier, abbreviated AMC, is an eight-wheeled armoured personnel carrier designed by Renault Trucks Défense, the defence arm of the French truck maker Renault Trucks. A concept model was first put on display at the Eurosatory defence exhibition in 2008. It was presented as one of the contenders to replace the older VAB, also made by Renault, around 2020 as part of Project Scorpion, a large-scale military modernization programme. The AMC was conceived as a high-mobility medium armoured vehicle and as the basis of a whole family, with planned versions for armoured transport, infantry combat, troop transport, a mobile command centre, ambulance, anti-tank missile launcher, anti-air missile launcher, mortar carrier, artillery observation, NBC reconnaissance, decontamination, minesweeping and a 20 mm turret. Variants with six-wheel drive were also planned.
