Anadol A8-16

Automobiles

The Anadol A8-16 was a four-door, five-seat passenger car that Otosan built in Istanbul from 1981 to 1984. Its styling borrowed from Volvo and Saab designs of the 1970s, with large headlamps, an inclined nose and a high rear deck, but customers saw it as a mixture of old Anadol parts and new ideas. It sat on a box-type perimeter frame with independent coil spring front suspension, a live leaf-sprung rear axle, rack and pinion steering and a four-speed manual gearbox. The first cars used the 1.6 litre Pinto E-Max engine, while the cheaper A8-16 SL of 1983 and 1984 reverted to the older 1.6. Only 1,013 were built.
