The Anadol A2 was the marque's first four-door model and, as the marque's history records, the first fibreglass-bodied four-door sedan in the world. Its prototype was prepared in 1969 and it reached the market in 1970 with the same basic specification as the A1 and a single wide bench seat in front. It received the A1's new nose in 1972 and a restyled SL version with new lamps, dashboard and interior in 1976, and it was the first Anadol to undergo extensive crash tests. Sold as a family car and widely as a taxi, it was the best-selling Anadol passenger car, with 35,668 built, and the A8-16 replaced it in 1981.
