The Airbus Helicopters H225, formerly the Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma, is a long-range passenger transport helicopter that Eurocopter developed as the next generation of the civil Super Puma family. Twin-engined, it can carry up to 24 passengers with two crew and a cabin attendant and is marketed for offshore support, VIP passenger transport and public service missions. Development of this update of the AS332 L2 Super Puma was announced in June 1998; it adopted Spheriflex rotor technology, new Turbomeca Makila 2A turboshaft engines and a redesigned main gearbox. The first prototype made its maiden flight on 27 November 2000, and Eurocopter delivered the 100th production helicopter to Bristow Group in 2011. The military counterpart, originally the EC725, became the H225M; both were renamed in 2015.
