The Airbus Helicopters H135, formerly the Eurocopter EC135, is a twin-engine civil light utility helicopter that can fly under instrument flight rules and carries a digital automatic flight control system. It grew from the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 108 technology demonstrator, which first flew in October 1988; the production helicopter first flew in February 1994 and entered service in 1996. Customers can choose Turbomeca Arrius 2B or Pratt and Whitney Canada PW206B engines. By September 2020 about 1,400 had been delivered to 300 operators in 60 countries, used mainly for air medical transport, corporate transport, law enforcement, offshore wind support and military flight training, with half of those in service in Europe. The H135M is the military variant.
