The Airbus A330 MRTT, short for Multi Role Tanker Transport, is a military aerial refuelling and transport aircraft derived from the Airbus A330-200 airliner. Standard airliners come off the Airbus line at Toulouse and are fitted with refuelling systems and military avionics at the conversion centre in Getafe, Spain. Depending on the customer it can carry an Airbus refuelling boom, under-wing refuelling pods or a fuselage refuelling unit, and it can also take on fuel itself in flight. Australia was the launch customer, and the type has since been ordered by France, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Canada and NATO. Airbus reports more than 90 percent of the refuelling aircraft market outside the United States.
