In 2026 the CX-80 was in its third year, the three row flagship in Europe and Japan and a smaller offering beside the CX-90 in Australia and some Asian countries, with the same powertrains as the CX-60, including a plug-in hybrid. It replaced the CX-8 in markets where that car had been dropped, and North America continued to receive the wider CX-90 instead. The car was built in Japan. It is paired with an eight speed automatic transmission that uses a wet clutch in place of a torque converter.
