During the first quarter 2025 financial results call BMW confirmed that an electric X7, named the iX7, will be coming to the market, with a preliminary introduction date in 2027 or 2028. In March 2025 Avtotor resumed assembly of the X5, X6 and X7 in Russia using leftover kits, a production BMW said it was not involved in, and 145 vehicles were sold in 2025. The iX7 would be BMW's first electric SUV of this size.
