In 2023 the Mazda CX-3 was built in Mexico and Thailand, no longer in Japan, and sales in the Japanese market were served by imported units from Thailand. It was still a subcompact B segment crossover on the platform of the third generation Mazda2, with 1.5 liter and 2.0 liter Skyactiv-G petrol engines and a 1.5 liter Skyactiv-D diesel on offer, in the eighth year of production. It was based on the same platform as the third generation Mazda2.
