In 2022 the F60 Countryman was in its sixth year of production at VDL Nedcar in Born, a Mini crossover that had been introduced in November 2016 and updated in 2020. The Countryman was sold as the Cooper, Cooper S and JCW, and as the Cooper S E ALL4 plug in hybrid, with a new generation expected in 2023. The F60 was nearing the end of its life, and the next generation would be launched the following year.
