Honda said on 3 August 2021 that it would build an improved NSX Type S in limited numbers for 2022, 350 cars worldwide, to mark the final year of the car. The car was unveiled on 12 August 2021 at Monterey Car Week and on 30 August in Japan, and the first NSX Type S, VIN 001 of 350, was auctioned on 14 August 2021 to Rick Hendrick for US$1.1 million. Honda ended NSX production for all other markets at the close of 2021. The Long Beach Blue Pearl body colour became available for 2021.
