The Gladiator went on sale in the spring of 2019 as a 2020 model. At launch the sole engine was the 3.6 liter Pentastar gasoline V6 with Variable Valve Timing, producing 285 horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque. Upon its launch in 2020 a limited edition Rubicon Launch Edition model was offered, limited to 4,190 units, and a limited edition High Altitude trim level was offered as the most expensive Gladiator model, with NHTSA ratings from a report released on December 10, 2019.
