In the spring of 2020 the X4 xDrive20d was given a mild hybrid 48 volt system, a small electrification step for the diesel version. The X4 M Competition, the F98, and the M40i were the sporting models, and the G02 X4 was in its second full year, built at Spartanburg in South Carolina as the coupe style companion to the X3. The mild hybrid system was a modest electrification step for the diesel X4.
