The i3 continued in 2020 as BMW's electric city hatchback, with the 42.2 kWh battery and the i3s sport model, produced at Leipzig. It was a high roof five door four passenger car, built with a carbon fibre reinforced passenger cell, and its sales were among the highest of electric cars in Germany, which was its biggest market with over 47,500 units delivered. It was the seventh year of production, with total sales passing the figures of earlier years.
