An optional mild hybrid system was introduced to the EcoBlue engines in 2019, with a belt driven starter generator and a 48 volt lithium ion battery that shuts down the engine when stopped. Ford also introduced a plug in hybrid Tourneo and launched the Nugget campervan with Westfalia in spring 2019. Passenger versions were sold as the Tourneo Custom, and the van was developed by Ford of Europe. The Transit Custom was Ford's mid size van, in the Transit range between the Transit Connect and the larger Transit.
