The Concept 4 was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, previewing the G22 that would succeed the F32 4 Series in 2020 with a large new kidney grille. Meanwhile, the F32 coupe, F33 convertible and F36 Gran Coupe continued to be produced in 2019, in their final full year of the first generation range. The bigger grille of the show car was a sign of the new styling to come. It was shown to the public in September 2019 in Frankfurt, the same city where the 4 Series coupe had been unveiled six years earlier.
