In January 2018 the 2.4 liter Outlander variant became more affordable in Malaysia due to local assembly, and in October 2018 a Sports Edition limited to 120 units based on the 2.0 liter variant became available with dual tone paint. According to JATO Dynamics the Outlander PHEV had been the world's all time best selling plug in hybrid since December 2018. The Outlander is a compact crossover SUV made by Mitsubishi Motors since 2001.
