In October 2018 Jaguar Land Rover opened a new plant at Nitra in Slovakia, built to make the new Discovery and later the 2020 Defender, and the Discovery moved production there in 2019. The fifth-generation Discovery in 2018 used the aluminium architecture first seen on the Range Rover L405, with V6 petrol and diesel engines, a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox and Terrain Response 2 with a new Auto mode.
