The F26 X4 reached the end of its run in 2018, as the G02 second generation was revealed online in February 2018 with sales commencing in July 2018. The first generation had been unveiled in New York in 2014 and been on sale since, built in Spartanburg, with 900 million dollars invested in the plant in preparation for X model production, including the X4. The overlap between the two generations meant the G02 was on sale in the second half of the year.
