The Xpander was introduced in July 2017 in Indonesia, where it was manufactured and sold as a high volume model. The car was well received at the 2017 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, where Mitsubishi Motors received 11,827 bookings during the event. Its design had been previewed by the XM Concept in August 2016. The Xpander is mainly sold in emerging countries in Southeast Asia along with several Latin American, African and Middle Eastern markets.
