By mid 2017 the four door models represented three quarters of all new Wranglers on the market. The 2017 JK Wrangler was the last full year of the third generation before the redesigned JL went on sale, and was carried over almost unchanged to the 2018 model year. The JK had been on sale since 2007 and would be sold alongside the JL in 2018, to meet demand until the JL went on sale. It was the eleventh model year of the JK.
