The V6 engine was discontinued in 2017, which left the EcoBoost four and the GT V8 as the choices in the sixth generation. On 17 January 2017 Ford showed the facelifted car, which it would sell as the 2018 Mustang, in a private presentation in New York. The car was a coupe or a convertible in this period, with the GT350 and GT350R as the performance versions. The facelift gave the car new headlights, LED taillights and a lower hood.
