The 2016 Navigator and Navigator L continued the refresh introduced for 2015, with the twin turbocharged 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 and the new Lincoln grille, in Select, Reserve and Black Label style trims. The Navigator was by then trailing the MKX in sales but ahead of the MKT, and the next generation of the Navigator was shown as a concept at the 2016 New York show. The third generation was based on Ford's T1 platform, related to the 2004 and later F-150, and was offered as the Navigator and the long wheelbase Navigator L.
