The MKC went on sale in the summer of 2014 as a 2015 model, a compact luxury crossover and the smallest Lincoln, after the concept shown at the Detroit show in January 2013. In August 2014 Lincoln signed a multi year endorsement contract with actor Matthew McConaughey to star in a series of spots promoting the 2015 MKC, and introduced the Lincoln Date Night promotion with an extended test drive and a dinner for two. Lincoln was moving away from MK nomenclature.
