The HR-V reached the United States as a 2016 model in 2015, built at Honda's Celaya, Mexico plant and on sale in May 2015, powered by a 1.8 liter SOHC i-VTEC four cylinder, with a CVT7 or a 6 speed manual in front wheel drive. It launched in Indonesia on 24 January 2015, Malaysia in February 2015, Brazil in the first quarter of 2015 as a 2016 model, the Philippines on 9 June 2015, and Europe on sale in September 2015. It was also launched in Pakistan in 2015 but was later discontinued owing to poor sales.
