The North American model was revealed on November 20, 2013 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and production began at Wentzville Assembly in 2014, with vehicles arriving at dealerships by mid to late 2014 as an early 2015 model year vehicle. The Wentzville plant received a 380 million dollar expansion to support the new Colorado, and the frame is 40 percent lighter than the global version. The 2015 Colorado, built at Wentzville, was the North American version of the second generation, a mid size truck.
