In 2014 it was revealed that Mitsubishi would discontinue production of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution after the 2015 model year. The company expressed a desire to refocus its efforts on crossover vehicles and electric vehicles. The Evolution X of 2014 was in the eighth year of its generation. All generations use two liter intercooled turbo inline four cylinder engines and all wheel drive systems. The Lancer Evolution was a sports sedan and rally car based on the Lancer, made by Mitsubishi Motors from 1992 until 2016, with ten official versions.
